Selina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) takes time to pay her respects to the late Supreme Court Justice, wherein she gives a slightly sarcastic remark. Meanwhile, executive producer David Mandel shares how "Veep" unintentionally nods to Donald J. Trump's presidency.
On the next episode of "Veep" season 6, Selina will be paying her respects to the Supreme Court Justice who just recently passed away. Selina and her team will be anticipated by journalists on the scene to get her for a short interview, to which the Vice President gives a sarcastic comment.
As seen from the episode 4 promo of "Veep," Selina responds with regard to the late Supreme Court Justice, "He was a friend to all people, especially corporations, who he legally considered to be people."
Aside from Selina and her sarcastic relationship with the late Supreme Court Justice, fans can expect Amy (Anna Chlumsky), Dan (Reid Scott), and Jonah (Timothy Simons) go through something of their own in episode 4.
"Amy works on securing a location for Selina's library. Dan tries to maintain his upswing with Jane (Margaret Colin), his co-host. Jonah finds an issue," the synopsis reads.
Meanwhile, "Veep" has had a lot of remarks toward Trump being president of the United States. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mandel explained that the episodes of the show had been filmed even before Trump as president and his campaigns began.
In the context of Selina running for president and forming ties with Russia, Mandel reveals that this context had been pre-empted by a scene from "Congressional Ball," which they were not able to air.
"In between all the vote-getting, Selina was called to the Situation Room, and we shot this mini-story of her talking to the president of the Republic of Georgia whose palace was being surrounded," Mandel explains.
The scene ends with Selina saving the day with her "firm hand," which leads to her forming ties with the president of Russia.
"The seeds of it were coming together last February as we were finishing shooting the season and then we sat down to formally talk about in June. Months and months before any of the Russian interference in the election," reveals Mandel.
"Veep" airs every Sunday night at 10:30 p.m. EDT on HBO.
