AMC's zombie filled hit series "The Walking Dead" is airing its seventh season a month from now, and AMC just released the new season's plot.

The last season of "The Walking Dead" left fans with a cliffhanger as Rick Grimes' (AndrewLincoln) team of survivors found themselves under the control of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Negan is the new villain Rick's team will have to deal with in the upcoming season of "The Walking Dead." In order to overthrow the show's new antagonist, Rick — along with other members of the community — must work together to escape Negan's control.

Unfortunately, this feat is easier said than done, especially when Rick's group has fallen apart, even losing Carol (Melissa McBride) and Morgan (Lennie James), two members who supported Rick during some very low points in his life.

In "The Walking Dead" season 7, fans can expect to see Rick's team undergo drastic changes. Another thing that fans can expect according to actor Tom Payne — who plays Jesus in the series — is a lot of bloodshed.

"The beginning of next season is going to be very tough and pretty graphic and horrible," Payne said during an interview with U.K's Daily Express.

AMC also revealed the plot  for season 7 via a post by Comicbook. In the upcoming season, the characters are in for the unexpected. Up until season 7, the main characters of "The Walking Dead" were shown to have the power to protect themselves. However, this season, Negan will take that power forcibly and with a lot of casualties.

For the first episodes of season 7, Rick's group will fall apart, therefore giving Negan the advantage of having control over the team. Additionally, members of Rick's team who were separated from the group will also soon discover that Negan's reign is something they can't easily escape.

Fans can expect season 7 to be somewhat of a do-over for "The Walking Dead's" main characters, and the character's perspectives will be opened to a bigger and badder world.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 premieres Sunday, Oct. 23 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
