'Tekken 7' release date: Game missing from 2015 Tokyo Game Show lineup

Tekken 7 Bandai Namco

According to a report from GameNGuide, Bandai Namco's "Tekken 7" would be making an appearance at this year's Tokyo Game Show. The report also stated that Katsuhiro Harada would be making an announcement during the event, such as revealing the game's release date for consoles and in the U.S. "Tekken 7," however, was notably absent.

As pointed out by a report from IGN, "Tekken 7" has been out in Japan since February of this year and arcade machines have also been in the U.S. for several fighting game competitions such as the 2015 EVO tournament. However, there has still been no word regarding the game's port on Xbox One or PS4 and when it would release in the U.S.

Bandai Namco did showcase some of their other big titles such as "Disney Infinity 3.0," "Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4," "God Eater Resurrection" and "Digimon World: Next Order." It did not, however, have any presentation or announcement regarding "Tekken 7," which many consider to be one of the company's biggest titles to date.

To that end, there is now no definitive release date for the game nor is there any report of when Bandai Namco might unveil the game's release on home consoles. However, fans on forums heavily speculate that the game might not see a 2015 release, and one reason for the delay may be the alleged PC port of the game.

As initially stated by GameNGuide, Bandai Namco is considereing a PC port for the game, although there is no confirmation about this rumor at this time. It is possible that the development of this PC port may push the release date for home consoles a bit to early 2016.

However, a nationwide release of the arcade version should be hitting the U.S. before the end of 2015, given that the arcade version has already been used for tournaments throughout the year.

Other notable games that were not mentioned at the Tokyo Game Show include "The Last Guardian" and "Kingdom Hearts 3."
