"Sister Wives" season 8 has not yet been confirmed since its last episode on June due to the many issues that have been circling the Brown family. Meanwhile, the Browns have been granted an extension to make an appeal to pursue their lawsuit against anti-polygamy in Utah.

Before season 7 ended, Hollywood Life confirmed that Kody is looking for two new wives. He has also found the person that he would like to make his fifth wife: the family nanny and Robyn's step-niece Mindy Jessop.

Because of this and other issues about Kody, his current wives – Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn – are planning to separate and divorce him, revealed Inquisitr.

Although the sister wives feel strongly about separating from Kody, it seems that his plan of adding new wives and the divorces have not been set in motion. The Browns are focused on building their lawsuit against the state of Utah and fighting the state's anti-polygamy law.

According to Fox13, the Brown family was granted an extension until Sept. 10 to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court to file a petition for writ of certiorari. This is regarding their previous lawsuit against the state of Utah over the ban of plural marriage in 2012.

Police investigated the Brown family after the reality show "Sister Wives" began airing in 2010. They claim that the state's ban on polygamy oversteps their right to religious freedom and privacy, so they filed a lawsuit in 2012.

In 2014, a portion of Utah's polygamy ban was axed by U.S. District Court Judge Clark Waddoups, and cohabitation with multiple people was no longer seen as a crime. However, earlier this year, the decision was reversed, which leaves the Browns back in the fight for their rights as a polygamous family.

Speculations point that Kody is pushing for their case to be approved to hinder his wives from leaving him now that they are already thinking about divorcing him.

No announcements have been made yet for when "Sister Wives" will continue its eighth season.
