South Korean tech giant Samsung has once again attempted to repair its damaged reputation among disappointed fans by announcing their latest smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S3.
Smartwatches are one of the latest forms of wearable technology today that still manages to enthrall avid tech enthusiasts. Smartwatches enables users to view certain data from their smartphones without actually having to physically access their phones.
These devices have also been favoured by some smartphone users because most smartwatches today possess several functions that enable them to do more than just tell the time like plain watches. In fact, most smartwatches today have fitness tracking features as well as sound and music features.
Since smartwatches contain plenty of high-tech features, most of them cost about $300 USD. As for the Samsung Gear S3, it will be available in the market this November for $350 USD.
There are two variants of the Samsung smartwatch, the Gear S3 Classic and the Gear S3 Frontier. The Classic sports a silver metal frame that goes well with its name. Meanwhile, the Frontier sports a matte-black frame that gives off a more outgoing look, making it a trendy looking dive watch.
Thought the two variants differ in style, both have 22-mm watch band and a 1.9-inch wide and 0.55-inch thick case. Within the smartwatches case, users will find a 1.3-inch display powered by a 380mAh capacity battery.
Just like other competing smartwatches, the Samsung Gear S3 also has a heart-rate monitor, GPS settings for fitness tracking, gyro, and an accelerometer.
The Samsung Gear S3 is also great for answering calls since it has a built-in microphone and speaker that will easily let its users make and take calls via Bluetooth.
However, only the Frontier variant can have a cellular data connection without having to be connected to a phone. This variant has a SIM card feature that would enable it to somehow act as a smartphone on its own. The only catch is that the SIM version of the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier can only be bought from AT&T and T-Mobile.
