Mark Consuelos will be portraying Hiram Lodge who first appears in "Riverdale" season 2. Meanwhile, Clifford's (Barclay Hope) cause of death might be murder.

Season 1 of "Riverdale" will be ending this Thursday on The CW, setting up the storylines that will bring the characters forward to a new season. Although the show has finally revealed that it was Clifford who killed his own son Jason (Trevor Stines), the reason behind his act has yet to be unveiled in the season 1 finale.

Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that episode 13 will answer the question of why Clifford killed his own son.

The showrunner also hinted that Clifford's cause of death might not be his own doing.

When asked about why Clifford ended up hanging himself, Aguirre-Sacasa replied, "I would say two things: stay tuned for the finale and remember, we didn't see Clifford hang himself. We just saw Clifford hanging there."

Aguirre-Sacasa teased that a scorned Blossom woman is involved in Clifford's death, which at this point, could be anyone of the women from the Blossoms and Coopers since it was revealed that both families are blood relatives.

Clifford appears to be hiding a lot more skeletons in the closet other than being responsible for his son's death, which is anticipated to be explored in season 2.

Meanwhile, Hiram Lodge will be making his first appearance in "Riverdale" season 2.

TVLine reports that "Pitch" star Consuelos has been tapped to play the role of father Lodge, who is described as "a ruthless, handsome, charismatic businessman who is coming back to Riverdale after weathering a financial scandal that almost destroyed him. He is there to reconnect with his wife Hermione (Marisol Nichols) and, especially, his daughter Veronica (Camilla Mendes), who is the apple of his eye."

"Riverdale" season 2 is expected to premiere in 2018.
