PlayStation 5 and Xbox Two release date; consoles already in development, tipped for 2020?

The Sony PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both came out in 2013 and despite just two years passing since their launch there is already talk of their upcoming successors.

According to a report from CrossMap, there has already been an indication of the new consoles being in development since early last year.

The report points out that Attack of the Fanboy sighted a job posting back in May 2015. The posting indicates that Sony is hiring game developers but the ad also mentions that the game is being made for the next generation of consoles. Unfortunately, the listing has since been taken down.

The job posting read as follows:

"We have an exciting opportunity at Sony Computer Entertainment of America (PlayStation). We seek a senior game programmer to assist us in developing a game used for R&D purposes related to our next generation gaming system. For someone passionate about gaming this is a very rare opportunity. After reviewing the below job profile, if this is you, please apply!"

Xbox One Microsoft

If the ad is proven true then Sony is indeed working on games that can be tested on the PlayStation 5. However, at this point there is no verification how far along the development team is in and it is likely the PlayStation 5 is in its earliest stages.

As previously reported, the PlayStation 5 is expected to run on AMD chipsets and may even feature a disc-less system, which means games will have to be purchased digitally. There are also talks of integrating the VR technology to make it a vital part of the PlayStation 5.

With the PlayStation 5 already in development, it is likely that the Xbox Two is also in its beginning phases of development. However, both consoles are expected to launch no sooner than 2020 in order to improve their features and to give the current generation of consoles better sales figures.

Neither Sony nor Microsoft has yet confirmed that they are indeed working on their next consoles, although Nintendo has already announced they are working on the Nintendo NX, successor to the Wii U.

After the elections, what next for Britain?

If the two-party system is indeed dead, as both Zack Polanski and Nigel Farage claim, it’s because members of these two parties have failed, promoting ideologies that are alien to the British character, and serving their own interests, rather than those of the people.
