The Facebook-backed virtual reality headset Oculus Rift will start receiving pre-orders on Jan. 6, 2016, Wednesday. There are no details yet on the price of the headset, but that is expected to arrive very soon.

In time for CES 2016, an official blog was posted by Oculus stating that the upcoming VR headset will be ready for pre-orders at 8 A.M. Pacific Time on Jan. 6. Oculus adds that the company will be releasing more information on what potential owners will be needing in order to get the headset.

In addition, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey will be available on pre-order day to answer questions and inquiries through a Reddit AMA, which is now live online. The AMA will begin at 6 P.M. Pacific Time, a few hours after the Oculus Rift will be made available. There is no news yet as to when the Oculus Rift will officially launch.

On top of the VR headset, Oculus will also be throwing in a copy of two games for the Rift- "Lucky's Tale" by Playful and "EVE: Valkyrie" by CCP.

"Lucky's Tale" is an old-time favourite adventure following Lucky the Fox and his journey through environments and terrains. The entry of "Lucky's Tale" creator Playful comes through the company's founder and CEO Paul Bettner, who is one of the original backers of Oculus Rift.

The virtual reality multiplayer experience that "EVE: Valkyrie" will bring is one that gamers are eager to set their hands on. The space shooter game takes players into space combat on the fictional EVE universe, bringing them into battle with various warships.

Other tech giants Sony and HTC are also setting their eyes to launch their VR headsets in the following months. HTC, who is currently working on HTC Vive, has pushed back the release of the HTV VR headset to April 2016, and be ready for pre-orders by February 2016.

In a shocking move, Oculus has paired up with Microsoft to release every Oculus Rift headset with an Xbox One- a smart move by Microsoft to top competitor Sony, who is releasing their own Playstation VR, which is also set to make a debut in CES 2016.
