'Narcos' season 2 release date could be delayed as showrunner leaves series

The release date of the second season of "Narcos" may be in jeopardy as some more changes have been made behind the scenes for the crime television show.

According to Deadline, "Narcos" showrunner Adam Fierro has decided to drop the project as he has completed the services that he had been contracted for. The series has seen various changes to the production manning since the show started with the first season. Fierro succeeded Chris Brancato, who left the show for another deal with ABC despite being credited as co-creator alongside Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro.

The show has brought back Jose Padilha, executive producer and director, who was going to step back from the film as soon as production for Season 2 would start. Padilha is joined by former executive producer Eric Newman, with original writers Bernard and Miro now back to working hands on on the show's script.

Although, the series is set for an Aug. 2, 2016 release, there is a high probability that fans may have to anticipate a delay due to the changes of staffing at the helm.

"Narcos" is an American crime drama show set and filmed in Colombia, telling the story of a drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and his interactions with drug lords, dealers and drug control enforcers. The character is portrayed by actor Wagner Moura and is based on a true story.

Reception has been majority positive as the series has received to Golden Globe Nominations- a nomination for Wagner Moura as Best Actor in a Television Drama Series and another nomination for shoe itself as Best Television Drama Series. Rotten Tomatoes has given the show a score of 78 percent for the first season, and records an average audience score of 94 percent.

"Narcos" had four directors in season 1: Andi Baiz, Fernando Coimbra, Guillermo Navarro and Padilha.
