Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date news, specs rumors: Release pushed to 2017; laptop to feature an enhanced Surface Pen

The anticipated release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will likely be pushed to 2017 after the Kaby Lake processor becomes available. Other alleged features of the new Surface Pro is an enhanced Surface Pen.

Microsoft released the Surface Pro 4 in October 2015, which caused expectations that its successor will also be released in October this year. But the Surface Pro 5 has not made its debut in the market yet, and it will now allegedly be launched next year.

According to PC Advisor, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to come with the most updated Intel processor, which is the Kaby Lake. But according to reports, the Kaby Lake will not be available until early 2017, which delays the Surface Pro 5's launch if it will indeed have Intel's latest processor.

The added time in producing the Surface Pro 5 will ensure that it will be released in good shape, as compared to the Surface Pro 4 that had some issues in terms of battery drainage.

Aside from the enhanced Kaby Lake processor, the Surface Pro 5 will have an upgraded Surface Pen. The current Surface Pen is powered by an alkaline AAAA battery and has to be replaced after some time. It is anticipated that the new Surface Pen will have a rechargeable battery that can be charged wirelessly when it is magnetically attached to the tablet.

In terms of price, it is speculated that Microsoft will not veer away from the price of the previous Surface Pro 4. The Surface Pro 5 is anticipated to be in a similar model range with the Surface Pro 4 in terms of Core, RAM, and internal storage, which creates speculations that its price will be somewhat close to Pro 4's £749 pricing.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is slated to debut before the end of 2017.
