No news have been released about when the new MacBook Air will be launched, but it is expected to be in 2017. A lot of possible new features are already being speculated, and one of these is the inclusion of the Apple Pencil.

The latest update done on the MacBook Air was in April 19, adding only 8 GB on the memory standard in the 13-inch model. Because Apple has not been focusing on improving the MacBook Air series, it is anticipated that this line of MacBooks will eventually be discontinued.

However, there have been no news about the discontinuation of the MacBook Air series, which is a sign that patrons take to remain hopeful for the new release. If Apple sticks to its yearly schedule, the launch of the new MacBook Air would be on March 2017, at the earliest.

There have been a lot of news about what features will be added into the new MacBook Air, and one of these is the addition of the Apple Pencil.

In previous developments, a patent application was granted to enable the Apple Pencil to be used on Mac trackpads. The patent features an enhanced version of the current Apple Pencil, which functions similar to a joystick or a baseless mouse.

"Inertial sensor input may be gathered when operating the stylus in one or more inertial sensor input modes such as an air mouse mode, a rotational controller mode, a joystick mode, and/or other inertial sensor input modes," reports MacWorld UK.

MacWorld UK was also able to confirm through DigiTimes that the new MacBook Air will include USB Type-C ports. These are new USB ports that can adapt different types of connections including HDMI, VGA, and Display Port according to
How To Geek.

Overall, the new MacBook Air is expected to be lighter in weight and slimmer, with enhanced internal specs. Improved batteries with cooling modules will possibly be included, along with a chassis according to MacRumors.

The MacBook Air 2016 is expected to be launched in March 2017.
