Fans have been anticipating news about when "Left 4 Dead 3" will be released, and they have some features in mind that they would want to see in the new game installment. Meanwhile, some reports say that "Left 4 Dead 3"  will allegedly be a prequel to the previous installment in the series.

Valve released "Left 4 Dead 2" back in 2009 and since then fans of the game have clamored for the release of a new update. There has been no confirmation about a sequel being under production, but it is speculated that the game is already one of the main projects that the developers are working on and will be released by the end of 2017.

One of the features that gamers want to enjoy in the new "Left 4 Dead" is cosmetic unlockables, according to Mobipicker. The said feature would be applicable to both the protagonists and zombies, which will enhance the experience of the game.

Cosmetic unlockables have been applied to several role-playing video games, and "Left 4 Dead 3" having this feature would optimize the experience for its gamers by way of personalizing their in-game characters.

Another enhancement that "Left 4 Dead" gamers will appreciate in the new installment is a more open world feel in the upcoming title. The suspense in the campaigns wears off after a while, and adding alternate routes and other passageways will add more to the gamers' adventures in the title.

Digital Spy reports that "Left 4 Dead 3" could be set in an earlier time than "Left 4 Dead 2." The timeline of the game will begin only a few months after the zombie infestation has spread. The game is rumored to have six new campaigns – Crashland, Impasse, Inquisitor Land, Early Destination, Cliff Hanger, and No Mercy.

It is also anticipated that the character's backpack function will have a slight change, allowing each to only carry one item at a time.

"Left 4 Dead 3" is anticipated to be launched in 2017.
