Now that Kilgrave is out of the picture, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) will be facing multiple villains in season 2. Her dynamic relationship with best friend Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) will also be put in the spotlight in the upcoming season.

Jessica was finally able to escape Kilgrave's leash, and the anti-heroine even managed to kill him in the season finale of "Jessica Jones." With executive producer Melissa Rosenberg confirming that Kilgrave will not return in season 2, the show opens its doors to multiple villains.

There have been speculations that Jessica will be facing members of IGH, the mysterious organization that paid Jessica's hospital bills when she was injured from the car crash that killed her family. This is also the same organization that provided Will Simpson (Will Traval) with combat enhancers in season 1.

It is also speculated that another Marvel villain will appear to face Jessica in season 2. This villain is Ruby Thursday, who is able to shapeshift and release energy blasts.

Season 1 of "Jessica Jones" showed a complicated yet intimate relationship between Jessica and Trish. Their story has at times implied something else with their closeness, and it is speculated that there might be something more than friendship between the two women.

Rosenburg shared with Entertainment Weekly that she loves the fact that a lot of fans see a romantic side to Jessica and Trish. "To me, it's about their history, and their trust and connection," said Rosenburg.

Other than the intimacy and romance in Jessica's friendship with Trish, Rosenburg shared that envy plays a dynamic role in balancing the two together. Trish – who has beauty, success, and a normal life – is a complete opposite to Jessica. The fact that they are complete opposites is a factor that draws them to each other.

Rosenburg added, "Actually, what she envies most of Trish is her heart, I think, because Trish is such a giving, loving person, and is really about helping other people."

"Jessica Jones" season 2 will premiere in 2018 on Nteflix.
