Film productions for "Jessica Jones" season 2 will soon be underway with Janet McTeer joining the cast to take on a big, mysterious role in the series. Meanwhile, character breakdowns for season 2 casting have been revealed.

"Jessica Jones" season 2 will soon begin filming, and it appears that there will be a lot of new characters that are going to be introduced.

One of these new faces will be portrayed by Golden Globe winner Janet McTeer. She will play an "undisclosed character who will have an enormous impact on Jessica's life," Entertainment Weekly has confirmed.

"We are so fortunate to have an actress of Janet's talent and stature join what is already an incredible cast. Our second season of Marvel's 'Jessica Jones' aims to capture what audiences loved about our first, and Janet will be key to achieving that goal," Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb shared.

Series creator Melissa Rosenberg also shared her enthusiasm to work with the actress soon. "She disappears into roles, gives her characters extraordinary dimension and depth. We're incredibly fortunate to be able to collaborate with her," Rosenberg said.

Aside from McTeer's mysterious new role in "Jessica Jones" season 2, there are four character breakdowns that surfaced on the Internet, hinting at the possible new faces that viewers will see in the new installment, Comicbook confirmed.

One of the characters is Dr. Kirby, a 60-year-old scientist and freethinker. This new series regular might possibly be the TV equivalent of Dr. Karl Malus from the Marvel Universe, who is known as a mad scientist with the knack for gene mutation and development of people with extra abilities.

Another character is named Oliver, who might be representing Otis Johnson from the comic series. Described as "Latino, artistic, paternal, smart, scruffy, and hip," Otis is actually an ally to Colleen Wing and Misty Knight.

"Jessica Jones" season 2 is expected to premiere in 2018 with 13 episodes on Netflix.
