Now that Jane (Gina Rodriguez) is married to Michael (Brett Dier), Rafael (Justin Baldoni) will be moving on with his feelings for Jane in season 3. As for Michael surviving his fatal gunshot, it looks like things are not looking good for his recovery.

In the season 2 finale of "Jane The Virgin," Michael was shot by Rose before he was able to make it to his wedding night with Jane. In the extended promo of season 3, it looks like the nurse is giving Jane bad news about Michael's condition. No news has been released if Michael will live through season 3, but whatever happens to Michael will affect Jane's future very deeply.

Series creator Jennie Snyder Urman tells Entertainment Weekly, "Jane makes these big moves in terms of having to forget her own life and identity." Viewers will learn about the dynamic and depth of Jane and Michael's relationship, and how the accident will play into a lot of things.

With the events that transpired last season, season 3 will feature the theme of growing up and moving on. Since Jane chose Michael over Rafael, he will be moving on from his feelings for Jane next season. Urman shares, "Once he makes that change and isn't head over heels for her any more, how does that change their relationship? How does that affect their co-parenting? How does that change their dynamics in general? And what are they like without that yearning at the center? That's going to be something we explore and twist in interesting ways."

Moving on, Jane will finally lose her virginity in season 3. It will happen in the first half of the season, so fans will not have to wait any longer. But the identity of Jane's romantic partner remains a mystery. Urman says that there's a lot of pressure about Jane losing her virginity, but she's trying to keep her expectations realistic.

Another thing fans can look forward to in season 3 is getting to know more about Jane's family. Jane will be tracing back her grandmother Alba's (Ivonne Coll) immigration, and in the process, the show will be introducing a lot of their family members in Venezuela. This is the show's opportunity to bring in new faces and add color into Jane's world.

"Jane The Virgin" season 3 premieres on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
