The sequel to "Injustice: Gods Among Us" is expected to launch in late 2017. Captain Cold is among the anticipated characters to be included in the "Injustice 2" roster.

"Injustice: Gods Among Us" was released back in 2013, and there has been a lot of buzz about when the sequel will be announced. The last announcement about the production of "Injustice 2" was made by NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con last July. Boon said that its release will most likely be in 2017.

The game will be a sequel to the first installment, where Superman has established a totalitarian rule and Batman tried to stop him with the help of the rest of the Justice League.

"Injustice 2" will have a new Gear System, where players will be able to collect loot including character costumes and weapons which enhances their characters' stats. The Gear System enables the gamers to customize their characters in terms of appearance and capabilities.

Aside from the Gear System, NetherRealm is expected to be coming up with a role-playing game feature for "Injustice 2" to enable the players to explore the game world more, as reported by Movie News Guide.

Boon is fond of creating polls about the games that NetherRealms are developing through Twitter to tease the fans and create hype about their upcoming releases. In a recent poll, he asked which character fans wanted to see in the upcoming "Injustice 2." Among Blue Beetle, Captain Cold, and Swamp Things, Blue Beetle was most favored while Captain Cold had the least amount of votes.

However, Boon recently posted a photo of him wearing an "Injustice 2" giveaway shirt that had the weapons of the game characters. Included was the Cold Gun, which sparked speculations that Captain Cold will be the newest addition to the "Injustice 2" roster.

Harley Quinn and Deadshot will also be included in "Injustice 2" as shown in the game trailer. Harley will have her canines in the game, along with her baseball bat and twin guns as weapons.

"Injustice 2" is expected to debut in 2017.
