iMac 2017 release date, specs rumors: Device update to launch in 2017?

Apple is anticipated to launch a new iMac within this year. Also, the new iMac model will be reworked to capture more of the company's Mac Pro market.

The last update of Apple's iMac was in October 2015 when they released a Retina-class screen for the smaller models and equipped the series with enhanced Skylake processor chips. Since then, patrons of the company have been waiting for a new update, which will hopefully be launched this year.

Aside from this good news, Techcrunch reports that Apple is remodeling the upcoming iMac to cater more to their Mac Pro market, according to Apple's vice presidents Phil Schiller, Craig Federighi, and John Ternus. This is because they are working on a new Mac Pro design that will come only in 2018.

Federighi stated, "So many of our customers were moving to iMac that we saw a path to address many, many more of those that were finding themselves limited by Mac Pro through a next generation iMac."

People waiting for the new iMac should be excited since Federighi also confirmed that the company has put "a lot of our energy behind" it. However, there is still no launch date announced for the new iMac model.

Every year, Apple has three events which followers anticipate for new releases. This year, it is anticipated that the new iMac will be launched in June during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

Although the WWDC events usually feature new operating system updates and hardware, the opportunity to launch in their March event has already passed. If the launch for the new iMac doesn't push through in June, followers will still be waiting for it in September with the company's autumn event.

However, the WWDC would be a good event to launch their new iMac because more people from the Mac Pro market attend this event, which will allow the company to tell them more about the refined iMac.

The next iMac is anticipated to be launched in June this year.
