There has been no confirmation when the next iMac will be released, but the safest bet would be at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2017. One of the possible new features that could be added to the upgraded iMac is the Kaby Lake Processor from Intel.

The most recent model of the iMac was released in October 2015, adding the Retina screen to the smaller ones and the Skylake processor chips to the bigger models. The newest iMac was expected to be released sometime from September to October of this year, 12 months later from its previous release. But since there is still no word of its launch, the newest iMac will now allegedly be introduced at Apple's WWDC event in 2017, according to Macworld.

There have been a lot of reports about what the new features of the upcoming iMac will be, but the most talked about as of now is the Kaby Lake Processor.

A listing from Best Buy sparked talk that the newest iMac update could be including the Kaby Lake Processor from Intel.

Kaby Lake is a successor to Skylake, which is a 7th Gen Intel Core i7 processor. The new processor is an optimization of Skylake and according to Channelpro, Intel has announced that it has the capacity to "power a range of feature-rich designs, including more than 120 devices with support for the Thunderbolt 3.0 standard, more than 100 designs supporting the Windows Hello biometric login, and more than 50 4K designs."

But according to Apple Insider, the listing from Best Buy is a little suspicious. The iMac listed only has an AMD Radeon R8 M380, while the 5K iMacs are already equipped with the advanced AMD Radeon R9 M935. Also, the Apple model number in the iMac enlisted in Best Buy is sequenced far from the previous model numbers of iMacs.

It is possible that Best Buy only posted the listing as an accident. Although in the past, there were instances that advanced listings of product releases and their features came true due to insider information being released.

However, so far, no confirmation has been announced about the Kaby Lake processor to be featured in the new iMac update.

The latest iMac is expected to be released in June 2017.
