The Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update will be coming to various carriers for the HTC One M8 and M9 in the coming weeks, including carriers like Sasktel, Rogers, Wind and Videotron.

According to a tweet by HTC executive Mo Versi, the Android Marshmallow mobile operating system will be coming to HTC One M8 and HTC One M9 owners in the coming weeks. The executive also mentioned the carriers that will be bringing the update to the handsets. The tweet said, "Great news for our Sasktel, Rogers, Wind and Videotron HTC One M9 owners! We'll go live on Monday for the Marshmallow OS update. Thank you!"

According to the tweet by HTC UK, the firmware update for the HTC One M8 should come within the next two days, which is about a week earlier than what Versi told fans. When asked about when the HTC One M8 would be receiving the update, Versi stated that their target is on Jan. 25, 2016.

Unfortunately, HTC One M9 users who do not have the Android Marshmallow firmware yet will have to wait a little longer as HTC UK says that the update shall follow shortly after the update for the One M9 comes out. Last month, the Android Marshmallow firmware came to the One M9 in select locations. This week, more handset users in different regions should be able to get the firmware update.

The Android Marshmallow firmware update brings a whole array of new features and improvements to the Android mobile operating system. Some of the new features include the Doze mode, which provides a smarter and more proactive standby function that helps save batters, improved fingerprint sensors, Google Now on Tap, access to Android Pay and many more.

The HTC One M8 and One M9 currently run on Android 5.0 and 5.1 Lollipop respectively. The One M8 launched back in March 2014 with the Android 4.4 Kitkat firmware coming out of the box, and the One M9 launched back in March 2015 with the Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware coming out of the box.
