'Half-Life 3' release date: Clues on Steam point to possible game

Half-Life 3 alleged logo Valve

Rumours of "Half-Life 3" happening have been going back and forth all over the Internet. Following talks about the third instalment of the first-person shooter game, a new leak was released pointing to the possibility of a "Half-Life 3" being produced and released.

According to a Reddit user going under the name, Steam Sale Detectives, Steam has posted clues pointing possibly to a "Half Life 3." On a Steam Sale for Santa Baby, a small Lambda logo was spotted in the background, and users are saying that this is a clue that Valve is dropping of a release of "Half-Life 3."

Another clue has also surfaced about a mysterious WAV file that says letters of the phonetic alphabet, which form an anagram of "BULLET HELL." Steam fans are taking this as a password for an ARG, connected to "Half-Life." However, Half-Life writer Marc Laidlaw has shot down this theory in an email that is floating around.

"I asked around because I didn't know anything about the ARG but people were asking me about it." Laidlaw said in the email. "It relates to the Steam sale only as far as I can tell. It is not intended as a way to roll out a new game"

Rumours are going around that Valve has approved a "Half Life 3" title to be launched by 2017, but for this theory to pass as legitimate, "Left 4 Dead 3" should be released first anytime this year, as reports claim that the zombie shooter video game is what Valve is placing their focus on for the time being.

The "Half-Life" series has not seen an update in that last ten years, when the sequel to the game came out. "Half-Life" enthusiasts continue to patiently await any official news from Valve Corporation on whether a part three of the hit shooting game will ever come out, and- if it does- when gamers can expect it to come out.
