'Guardians of the Galaxy' news: David Bowie was in talks for a cameo

"Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn admitted through social media that there were talks of a David Bowie cameo in the sequel of the Marvel film after learning of the passing of music star and icon last weekend.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Gunn gave a tribute to Bowie, telling of the impact that the artist had over the film directors career. He then goes on to reveal plans that he shared with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to have Bowie appear in the second installment of the film featuring the galactic warriors in "Guardians of the Galaxy."

"Just a very short while ago Kevin Feige and I were talking about a cameo role in Guardians Vol. 2, and he brought up Bowie's name," Gunn said in his Facebook post. "I told him nothing in the world would make me happier, but I heard from common friends he wasn't doing well."

The soundtrack of the first movie of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" featured the song "Moonage Dream," which was part of the "Ziggy Stardust" album. There is a great chance that the music production staff will be including more songs from Bowie in the sequel which will hit theaters sometime in 2017.

In the post, Gunn goes on to thank Bowie for the many things that the artist gave to his "life, relationships and career." He then adds that Bowie's music was what helped him through his high school years. "Your music let me believe there was something magic out there, I only needed to hold on a few more years to experience it. I'm glad I did." Gunn said in the post.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is preparing to start shooting this 2016. It will see the return of Star Lord (played by Chris Pratt) and his band of unlikely heroes as they go up against Thanos' schemes in the second film.
