Google Nexus 7 release date news, specs rumors: Device to be manufactured by HTC

Tech giant Google is speculated to release the Nexus 7 anytime soon. But because of the lack of official information from the company, some speculations suggest that the device might be up for cancellation after all.

It is said that Google has made a contract with Chinese phone manufacturer Huawei to produce the next device for the Nexus lineup. Unfortunately, Huawei has declined the offer to work with Google on the Nexus 7 due to the lack of exposure they are getting from the partnership.

According to rumors, Huawei was supposed to work with Google on the Nexus 7, but Google didn't agree to Huawei's demand to put their company logo on the Nexus 7 device. Because of this, Huawei refused to collaborate with Google.

Since Huawei didn't want to partner with Google for the Nexus project, the Chinese company didn't also get the deal to make the recently released Pixel phones with Google. Instead, Google looked to the Taiwanese company HTC to manufacture the Pixel and Pixel XL.

Furthermore, despite the cancellation rumors that sprouted from Huawei and Google's disagreement to make the Nexus 7 together, more recent speculations suggest that HTC will be picking up the task just like the company will be doing for the Pixel and the Pixel XL.

The upcoming Google Nexus 7 is expected to sport 64 GB of internal storage with 4 GB of RAM. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and an Adreno 530 GPU.

It will also have a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. The device is also speculated to come out of the box running on the latest Android OS, which is dubbed the Andromeda.

As of now, there is still no official news from Google as to when the Nexus 7 will be released, but recent speculations suggest that the device will be launched sometime in 2017.
