'Game of Thrones' season 7 may see Sam Tarly have a big role in the coming war

Sam Tarly to have a big role in season 7 HBO

John Bradley's Sam Tarly might be an important piece of the puzzle in the upcoming Great War with the White Walkers.

Season 7 of "Game of Thrones" is finally coming to HBO this July, and the network has already teased that the Great War with the White Walkers is coming. In the upcoming season, it is anticipated that Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) will convince Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) to unite and fight the White Walkers together.

However, one character anticipated to make a great impact in season 7 is Sam Tarly.

In a podcast episode of The Times' Walking the Dog, Bradley teases that there is a reason why his character has made it this far on the show.

"The thing about Sam is, if he's still around at this stage, you do suspect that there is gonna be a point to keeping him around," Bradley shares with Emily Dean during the podcast.

Previously in "Game of Thrones" season 6, Tarly went to the Citadel to become a Maester for the Night's Watch. Bradley shares that Sam's intention of going to the Citadel was not to have a good life.

"He genuinely feels he can make a difference, and he wants to," Bradley says.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran has revealed his upcoming scene in "Game of Thrones" season 7.

Speaking to Tom Green on The Hits Radio, the singer songwriter says that he will appear only in a single scene where he graces Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) with his voice.

"I just do a scene with Maisie. I sing a song and then she goes, 'Oh, that's a nice song,'" Sheeran revealed. However, details of how Arya crosses paths with Sheeran in season 7 have yet to be revealed.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 premieres on July 16 on HBO.
