Game developer Scott Cawthon defended the "Five Nights at Freddy's" fanbase when it was called "toxic." Meanwhile, game theories about "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" have been confirmed by Cawthon.
Cawthon recently posted on the game's Steam page to discuss how it was unfair for the "Five Nights at Freddy's" fanbase to be described as "toxic." He believes that it is an "unfair generalization."
Cawthon said, "The truth is that EVERY fanbase has its 'toxic' side, and that's because every fanbase has a huge variety of ages, a huge variety of opinions, and a huge variety of maturities. There will always be people who irritate you, inside and outside of any fanbase. That's not a fault of the fanbase, it's a fault of people, and we're all guilty."
He goes on to explain that there are some people who purposely visit the forum to hate the fanbase, but these people will not be tolerated and will be immediately banned from the page. However, for those who believe that they "make honest criticisms" about the "Five Nights at Freddy's" fanbase, Cawthon thinks that they are misguided.
The game developer elaborated that there is a bad side to the fan art and fan fiction of "Five Nights at Freddy's," but generalizing the whole fanbase due to that alone is a mistake because there is still an "overwhelming number of awesome members" that provide great fanart, theories, good conversations, and funny memes.
The latest installment to the Steam game franchise is "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location." There have been a lot of theories about the game's origin, but one particular video was praised by Cawthon himself.
The video posted by Game Theorists talked about the how William Afton had an underground laboratory where he experimented on children for the purpose of finding a cure for his own child. Afton planned to latch the soul of a child to an animatronic so that the child could continue living through the animatronic.
Game Theorists also said that Afton was successful in his experiment, creating the sentient robots seen in "Sister Location."
Cawthon posted on the Steam thread that the video was crafted well and entertaining, and that Game Theorists "really did find some things that no one else had found yet."
