The upcoming "Annabelle 2" is set to premiere on May 2017. The plot involves the original creator of Annabelle and how it will start to unleash evil upon his house.
Variety reports that Warner Bros. will release "Annabelle 2" on May 17, 2017. Similar to the first installment, James Wan will also be producing the sequel.
"Annabelle" was a spin-off to Wan's horror film "The Conjuring" that was released in 2014. The story revolved around a demonic doll named "Annabelle" who was in the possession of Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) Warren. The couple are known paranormal investigators and demonologists.
"Lights Out" director David Sandberg has taken over the directing duties for "Annabelle 2." The script was created by Gary Dauberman, who was also wrote the script for the first installment. Peter Safran will join the sequel's team as it's producer.
According to the synopsis released by IMDB, "Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker's possessed creation, Annabelle."
The story begins with the dollmaker who was the creator of Annabelle, which makes the film's storyline more of a prequel to the first "Annabelle" movie. According to Creators, it will be 20 years after the daughter of the dollmaker dies when they welcome the nun and the girls into their home.
The wife of the dollmaker will be played by Miranda Otto (who starred in "Lord of the Rings") while Stephanie Sigman (who appeared as Estrella in "Spectre") will be playing the role of the nun.
In the trailer for "Annabelle 2," Otto enters the room where a young girl is having tea party with the doll, Annabelle. Soon after Otto raises a cross towards the girl, the young girl starts loudly cracking her bones while Otto looks in horror.
"Annabelle 2" premieres on May 17, 2017.
