Our hope is in Christ and our destiny is met by the cross. Because of that we can trust that the hope we have will never fail us. Jesus is more than capable and more than willing to deliver, provide, secure, satisfy and grow us if we look solely to Him as the desire of our heart.
Isaiah 40:31 promises us, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." God promises that those who hope in Him will not be put to shame. Here are five reasons to believe that hope rooted in Christ will never fail.
Biblical Examples
The Bible is full of narratives and stories of people experiencing God's faithfulness. Abraham's fate, Joseph's promotion, Joshua's victories, Samson's strength, David's rulership, Solomon's wisdom, Esther's timing, Nehemiah's provision, Daniel's deliverance, Paul's conversion and John's preservation are just some of the times that God came through for those who had hope and even those who did not.
Past Experience
If you've been a Christian for a while now, there is bound to be something to be thankful to God for. God has come through for us in the past probably more times than we can even remember, and it gives us the assurance that if He has come through for us before that He can and will come through for us again.
Joy of Our Salvation
If you can't remember a time that God came through for you, look instantly to the salvation of your soul that Jesus has paid for and the joy it brings. God's saving grace reminds us that we are already victorious. The Psalmist David once spoke in Psalm 51:12, "Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a wiling spirit, to sustain me."
Grace
Grace reminds us of the merit we receive even when we don't deserve it. This gives us hope that despite of our failure to commit and deliver on our promises, God will not fall short in delivering on His. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, we now have access to God's covenant promises because the Christ has now become the fulfillment of all for all who believe and put their trust in Him.
God's Sovereignty
Romans 8:28 assures us that God makes all things work for our good, and when He says all things He means ALL things. The assurance that God is in control even when we are not gives us hope that His good, pleasing and perfect will will come to completion as long as we surrender to His ways and His will. We can either have our own way or look to the hope that is in Christ and trust that He is in control even when we are not.
