Windows 10 Mobile news: Microsoft launches new business app for Windows 10 Mobile

Microsoft has released a new business information application, the Microsoft Power BI, on its Windows 10 mobile operating system. The application allows users to gain and create access to key business information through the use of mobile phones.

According to WM Power User, the application is a universal Windows app that allows for the input and display of key business information such as revenue, marketing insights and business relationship management. The information can then be created into a clean presentation to be shared with colleagues.

The Microsoft Power BI application is now available for free for phone owners that have handsets that run on Windows 10 Mobile, and also has backwards compatibility for Windows 8. The application is not yet available for PCs, but Microsoft has assured Insiders that the app for desktop will be available soon. The BI app is free for download and has been rated on Microsoft's website with an average core of a little over 4 out of 5 stars.

The application also allows users to access data from the home screen, and automatically refreshes information instantaneously without the need of a manual refresh.

In other related news, there is still no word on the release of the Windows 10 Mobile firmware update for older Lumia handsets. Aside from the latest flagships, Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, other Microsoft-built smartphones are without an update for Windows 10 and still run on Windows 8.

Back in August, Microsoft announced that other Lumia smartphones, like the Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, and Lumia 930, would be getting an update for Windows 10 Mobile.

Microsoft first pegged for a December roll-out, but later told ZDNet that the company would be pushing back the release of the mobile operating system to early next year saying, "The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin rolling out early next year to select existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones."
