When your faith in God seems to be all you have left

I don't think many Christians understand the magnitude of the privilege we have in being considered children of God. John 1:12 tells us, "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

When we believe in God and put our utmost trust in Him, we are automatically now children of God. But do we know just how much of an amazing opportunity that truly is?

Many times in my walk with God, I have to admit that I might forget or miss out on the wonderful privilege of now being a child of God by faith. When faced with the most difficult of circumstances and my faith is all I have left, there is a big chance that I will start worrying. For me and for any other Christian that is always a sure sign that we have forgotten how powerful our faith is.

Faith, when it stands alone against a mountain of trial, often appears like an unmatched David facing a seemingly impossible to beat Goliath. Sure, we've heard that faith like a mustard seed can move mountains, but one must admit that it doesn't always seem that way.

But I don't think I have ever heard of a Christian who has admitted that faith never gave a good return. Sure things might not always turn out the way we want it to and God might turn our plans upside down, but just as it says in Romans 8:28, the Lord surely makes all things work together for our good.

When faith seems to be the only thing you have left - you're out of money, out of moves, out of opportunities, and out of ideas - know that you are still in the most advantageous position ever. Our position in Christ as now being sons and daughters of God through His blood is as good as a sure win when we invite Him to take control in any situation.

Just as 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me." Faith is powerful even when it doesn't seem to be. I can bank my life on it, and I'm sure you would too if only you remember it.

Let's never cease asking God for the resilience to refuse to give up but to hold on to our faith in Him even if it seems to be all we have left. God's sovereignty and will is something we can bet our whole life on and that's exactly what He wants us to do so that His perfect and pleasing plan can give us welfare and hope to transpire.
