'The Winds of Winter' release date news: Fans in a frenzy over Amazon France listing

A lot of fans have been waiting a long time for the upcoming release of the latest installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, "The Winds of Winter." There has been no news as to when it will be launched, but Amazon France previously created a listing for the book indicating that it will soon be released.

"The Winds of Winter" has recently been listed on Amazon France, with a release date of March 2017. The author of the highly awaited sixth installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire," George R.R. Martin, is speculated to have already finished writing the book. Giving his publishers time to get the book ready for its release, March 2017 is a sensible date.

However, neither Martin nor his publishers have given any recent statements about the book's upcoming release. Martin's U.S. publisher Random House previously told Entertainment Weekly, "Any on-sale dates currently listed online for the novel are incorrect. Once we have a publication date for 'The Winds of Winter,' the world will know." Meanwhile, Martin's UK publisher HarperCollins also released a statement that "nothing has been finalized regarding the publication or the date" in relation to the release of "The Winds of Winter."

Martin also debunked numerous social media accounts that post about the upcoming release of the latest installment. He says that he does have official Facebook and Twitter accounts, but talks to his fans directly on his blog called "Not A Blog" through LiveJournal. His most recent post wherein he talked about "The Winds of Winter" very briefly was "The Long Game... of Thrones." Martin said on his blog post, "But here I am, twenty years later... still working on book six... ((and no, sorry, I have no announcement to make on that front))."

Even though news about the release of "The Winds of Winter" have not been finalized, Martin read a chapter from the book to an audience at Balticon. The chapter —named "The Forsaken" — was written from the point of view of Aeron Grey. Fans of the series can relish this chapter while waiting for the release of the much-awaited "The Winds of Winter."
