Castiel (Misha Collins) will be forced to ask for Crowley's (Mark Sheppard) help to get Lucifer (Rick Springfield) back in his cage. Meanwhile, season 12 of the series might delve deeper into the history of the Winchester's demon hunting.

In the upcoming third episode of "Supernatural" season 12 — titled "The Foundry" — the Winchesters will be working on a case that involves a mysterious crying baby. While the Winchester family is busy, Castiel will be teaming up with Crowley to hunt Lucifer down and trap him back in his cage.

According to the synopsis from Den of Geek, "When a crying baby leads to death in a mysterious abandoned house, Mary (Samantha Smith), Sam (Jared Padelicki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) decide to investigate. Meanwhile, Castiel's hunt for Lucifer leads him, begrudgingly, to partner up with Crowley."

Previously in "Supernatural," Crowley tried and failed to capture Lucifer with the help of his mother Rowena (Ruth Connell). Lucifer instead took Rowena captive and will now be using her as his weapon of magic. It seems that the fallen angel will be making use of the Book of the Damned as well.

With Castiel trying to save the world from Lucifer's reign and Crowley wanting to rule over hell again, the two will tag team to make sure Lucifer gets back in his cage.

Meanwhile, Movie News Guide reports that "Supernatural" season 12 will be focusing on the Winchester's family legacy, which is demon hunting. Looking back at their story, the Sam and Dean learned about hunting because their father John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was a hunter.

But deeper into the family lineage, it was Mary's own family who was involved with the supernatural, and John only inherited the profession of hunting when he married her. It seems that there may be more to reveal about the origin of the Winchester's hunting in the show's twelfth season.

"Supernatural" season 12 airs every Thursday at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
