Alex (Priyanka Chopra) has infiltrated the eight pillars, which might result in her turning her back on the task force. Meanwhile, "Quantico" might not be renewed for season 3.
On the next episode of "Quantico" season 2, titled "GLOBALREACH," Alex has already taken Maxwell Fletcher's (Fredric Lane) offer to become part of the eight pillars, but she is working a plan with Owen (Blair Underwood) to knock the collaborators off their feet.
"Risking it all, Alex works with Owen to infiltrate the Collaborators. When they begin to test her loyalty, Alex realizes she's become a pawn in their plan to take down both the President (Marcia Cross) and the task force," the episode listing on The Futon Critic reads.
However, Alex might soon be convinced by the collaborators to join their side, which might lead her to become the one person that can break the underground task force and put all of their lives in danger.
As seen from the episode 20 promo, a frightened Alex tells Owen, "The deeper I go on this, I'm afraid you won't be able to pull me out." Later on, Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) is betrayed by Alex when she knocks him out while on the run.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Josh Safran shared that the upcoming episode of "Quantico" will have the biggest impact for the year.
"She's gonna have to prove that she is really there and not there undercover to the collaborators. ... her team finds out where she is, it's gonna cause a lot of friction so I don't think the team will ever be the same again," Safran explained.
Meanwhile, "Quantico" has not been renewed for season 3 yet, and the showrunner has admitted that he's been preparing to write a finale for the series as well.
Safran revealed that since episode 17 of season 2, he had avoided creating a storyline — such as one that tackles a romantic relationship between Alex and Owen — that might not have an ending since they have not yet been picked up for a renewal.
"Quantico" season 2 airs every Monday night at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
