NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti release date news: Chip expected to debut in 2017, NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti compared to the AMD RX 490

The anticipated release of the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti is expected to happen early in 2017. Meanwhile, the upcoming NVIDIA gaming graphics card is being compared a lot to the AMD Radeon RX 490.

It was previously announced that NVIDIA co-founder and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang will be launching the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January of next year. Huang will allegedly cover the topics of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, self-driving cars, and gaming.

Because he will cover the newest technology and innovations in the field of gaming, it is anticipated that he will also be launching the new NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti at the CES event next year. However, there has been no confirmation as to when NVIDIA will be launching their newest gaming graphics card in 2017.

The NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti's anticipated release goes alongside the awaited launch of AMD's Radeon RX 490, which has caused a lot of comparisons between the two.

Mobile & Apps has laid down a few speculated features about the two gaming graphics card in evaluating which is the better one.

The AMD RX 490 is expected to work better in terms of power consumption, anticipating that it consumes 225 Watts versus the GTX 1080 Ti's 180 Watts. The RX 490 is also 2 nm smaller than the GTX 1080 Ti, making its GPU run cooler.

Another advantage that the AMD RX 490 has is its architecture of 12 teraflops that can provide more computer speed, in comparison to the GTX 1080 Ti's 10 teraflops.

But even with only 10 teraflops, the GTX 1080 Ti has a base clock of 1,607 MHz that can be boosted up to 1,733 MHz. Alongside its 12 GB GDDR5X memory on a 320-bit bus, the GTX 1080 Ti proves to be the premium choice compared to the AMD RX 490.

The NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti is expected to launch in 2017.
