There has been a lot of talks that "NCIS" will soon be canceled due to its declining ratings. Meanwhile, Ducky (David McCallum) will have a connection to a case which will bring him to an unexpected trip down memory lane.

Since the exit of Cote de Pablo (who plays Ziva David) and Michael Weatherly (who plays Special Agent Tony DiNozzo) from "NCIS," the ratings of the show has been declining. Although CBS has already announced that the series will be renewed for another season, the chances of it being cancelled are still high if it doesn't perform well during its season 14 run.

Now, rumors about Mark Harmon – who plays the lead character Jethro Gibbs – are spreading on the Internet. Fans have been noticing that the actor has been losing a lot of weight, and most viewers are suspecting that the actor will be taking a break from the series soon for health-related reasons. But with the show's ratings going down, Harmon leaving the show might put the final nail on the coffin for the CBS series.

However, Game N Guide reports that Weatherly will be returning on "NCIS" as a guest star to help bring the ratings back up.

In the upcoming ninth episode of "NCIS" season 14, Mary Stuart Masterson will be guest starring as Jenna Flemming, a congresswoman who will be receiving several threats and will be having the NCIS team on her case.

Meanwhile, in the show's 10th episode — titled "The Tie That Binds" — Donald "Ducky" Mallard" will find himself connected to the team's new case and he will take a trip down memory lane.

According to the synopsis released by The Futon Critic, "After the NCIS team tracks evidence from the murder of a Navy captain to Ducky's deceased mother, Ducky looks back and questions a pivotal life choice he made 37 years ago. Also, the team exchanges holiday gifts, and Gibbs spends Christmas dinner with Fornell."

"NCIS" season 14 airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
