"Narcos" fans were left with a lot of questions when season 2 ended with the death of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura), leaving them speculating about what DEA Agent Javier Pena (Pedro Pascal) and Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) will do after their successful takedown.

The Netflix hit-series "Narcos" tells the story behind the people who run the infamous Medellín drug cartel. For its first season, the story on the Colombian war on drugs was told through the perspective of the powerful and influential Colombian kingpin Pablo Escobar, also known as the Da Vinci of crime.

The first 10-episode season of "Narcos" focused on the real-to-life events that happened during the Columbian drug war.

The second season of "Narcos," on the other hand, showed the growth of the Medellín drug cartel. In season 2, Escobar has taken his drug cartel to great heights, even surpassing the Colombian government.

Unfortunately for Escobar, DEA agents Pena and Murphy were able to end his reign as they successfully tracked him down when he met with his family for his 44th birthday.

Though "Narcos" season 2 ended with Trujillo (Jorge Monterrosa) killing Escobar with a shot to the head, much speculation suggest that the Colombian kingpin's death might not be the end of the Colombian drug war, but the beginning.

For "Narcos" season 3, showrunners Jose Padilha and Eric Newman are speculated to continue the show under DEA Agent Javier Pena's perspective since Escobar has been killed.

One thing that adds to the suspicion that "Narcos" season 3 will be narrated by DEA Agent Javier Pena is the recently released official photo for "Narcos" season 3. The photo shows Javier Pena standing in front of a crowd with the U.S. emblem on the background. The agent looks like he is preparing to make an announcement.

Speculations suggest that Pena might be announcing their successful takedown of the Medellin drug cartel leader, Pablo Escobar. However, other rumors suggest that the DEA agent might be announcing the uprising of a new drug cartel in place of the Medellin, therefore suggesting a new opponent in the Colombian drug war.
