Canadian pop star Justin Bieber posted a message on Instagram about fully trusting God on Sunday, two days after he apparently figured in a melee at the lobby of his hotel in Cleveland, Ohio, the latest in a string of unfortunate incidents that have happened to him.
"Even when [you're] planning the worst for yourself God is planning his best for you," he wrote.
The post is a loose translation of Proverbs 19:21, according to Charisma News, which says, "Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."
Last Sunday, his performance at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota was reportedly met with lacklustre reviews.
And on June 16, Bieber fell into a hole while performing on stage in Saskatoon, Canada.
He later tweeted, "I'm a cat. I got 9 lives. LOL" to poke fun at the incident.
"You see? The poor boy adjusts his pants, as boys are often doing these days, and then he strides, with the confidence of a young man on the make, down the catwalk, only to be met with the cruelest calamity. Gravity pulls him toward the abyss. But then—oop!—Jesus pulls him back up. Yeah, Justin was fine, he popped back up like a little Saskatchewan gopher shortly after his tumble, assuring fans that he was fine, and probably only a little embarrassed," wrote Vanity Fair about the incident.
Last November, Bieber released his fourth album "Purpose," a title which he said, "I felt like I lost my purpose," according to The Mirror.
"But now I've found it, and I want to bring that hope to people, and say: 'Hey, you might have lost your purpose, or maybe you're searching for your purpose. Purpose is so important,'" he said.
He added, "I talk about stuff that I went through. And stuff that pulled me out. I just want people see there is hope and the best is yet ahead of you, and not to dwell in the spot that you're in. Also to know that, hey, if Justin did it, I can do it."
The singer told fans not to worship him "because I'm gonna disappoint you every time."
"Yeah. It's scary. But I want them to know that I'm not going to be able to solve their problems... I'm not that higher power," he said.
Bieber explained that he will never be perfect and said, "Humans aren't meant to be worshipped."
"We're just not. So when a human is being worshipped, this is dangerous. 'Cause it does nothing but give you pride," he said.
