Canadian pop star Justin Bieber was heartbroken over the loss of fellow Christian singer Christina Grimmie, best known for her participation in NBC's singing competition "The Voice" Season 6.

During his Winnipeg, Canada concert on June 11, Bieber sang his "Purpose" song lying down, according to Hollywood Life. He was so overcome with emotions that he wiped tears from his eyes and cried, "Grimmie, can you hear me?"

Grimmie, 22, was shot to death by Kevin James Loibl, 27, of St. Petersburg, Florida. She was signing autographs for her fans at the Plaza Live Theater in Orlando, Florida on Friday night when Loibl shot her.

Bieber's ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez also broke down in tears during a separate performance following Grimmie's death, according to Rolling Stone. She was singing "Nobody" at the American Airlines Arena when she suddenly broke down in tears.

She apologised to her fans, then recalled her history with Grimmie. "When she was 14, we met her – my parents and I signed her," Gomez said. "And one thing about Christina and her family, is that she holds her faith so closely to her. It's not about her religion, and it's not about good deeds. It's just that she had faith. And I don't really understand how this happened, but I would like to dedicate this next song to her."

Gomez then sang Hillsong Worship's song "Transfiguration."

Meanwhile, "The Voice" judge Adam Levine from Maroon 5 has offered to pay for Grimmie's funeral expenses. Grimmie's brother Marcus wrote on his Facebook page that the singer personally contacted his mother to offer financial aid.

"I found out this morning, that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away," he said.

Grimmie's manager Brian Teefey initially created a GoFundMe page to help her family move out of their current house and shoulder the expenses of her funeral. Their initial goal was $4,000, but donations from kind-hearted individuals have poured in continuously and they now have $145,475 worth of donations.
