"Jurassic World" returns with a sequel next year introducing new species of dinosaurs and bringing back old ones as well. Meanwhile, the possible theme for "Jurassic World 2" is animal abuse.
Filming is currently ongoing for "Jurassic World 2" to make its debut in 2018. The director of the first film, Collin Trevorrow, has handed over the seat to J.A. Bayona to direct the sequel. However, Trevorrow remains involved with the sequel because he co-wrote the script together with Derek Connolly, Screenrant confirmed.
Also, Trevorrow recently posted a photo on his Twitter account hinting that there will be new dinosaurs to discover in "Jurassic World 2."
The photo featured seven dinosaur eggs that are safely kept in an incubator. It teases the plot that humans are making the same mistake they made in "Jurassic World" or in the previous films in the franchise. It also hints that new dinosaurs will be introduced in the sequel.
Aside from new dinosaurs, "Jurassic World 2" is expected to bring in old dinosaurs from previous films, such as the Apatosaurus from "Jurassic World" and the Dilophosaurus from "Jurassic Park," as seen from a photo shared on Twitter by Raptor Chaser.
Plot details are still kept under tight wraps. However, one of the possible themes of "Jurassic World 2" is animal abuse.
In an interview with Time, Trevorrow shared, "The dinosaurs will be a parable of the treatment animals receive today: the abuse, medical experimentation, pets, having wild animals in zoos like prisons, the use the military has made of them, animals as weapons."
Trevorrow added that Bayona is the right guy to direct this sequel because his presence will make the film "grow and evolve with his very personal vision."
The sequel will bring together Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, B.D. Wong, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda, James Cromwell, Geraldine Chaplin, and Ted Levine as cast members.
"Jurassic World 2" is slated to premiere on June 22, 2018.
