iPad Mini 5 release date, specs rumors: Device could be launched in March 2017; new iPad is lighter and will have bigger memory

Apple fans expect the iPad Mini 5 to be released in March 2017. Fans awaiting its release hope that the new iPad will also be upgraded in terms of material, design, and internal memory.

Apple has been known to launch new products in March, which pushed speculations that the iPad Mini 5 will be released in March 2017. There has been no confirmation on its release date yet, but the iPad Mini 5's possible specs and features have already taken fans by storm.

According to Tech Advisor, Apple might be using the Series 7000 aluminum for the iPad Mini 5. The same material used in the iPhone 6S, it is lighter and sturdier than the material used in previous iPads. It will have a 7.9 Retina display similar to the iPad Mini 4, but it will be more durable because of an added 7000-series aluminum chassis. It will also be thinner than the iPad Mini 4, being only 5mm thick. A gold rose color may also be available for the iPad Mini 5.

The iPad Mini 5 will also have the 3D touch technology. Similar to the iPhone 6 series, the 3D touch registers the amount of pressure applied on the screen and presents varying options as a response. It is rumored that the new iPad will be water and dust resistant. Because the iPhone 7 was released with no audio jack, the same is rumored to be the case in the iPad Mini 5.

An upgrade from its predecessor, the iPad Mini 5 will have 3 GB of RAM. This enhances the tablet's multitasking feature. Instead of beginning with 16 GB storage memory, the new iPad will have 32 GB of internal memory as its new standard.

Apple's new operating system — iOS 10 — will also be implemented in the new iPad Mini 5. It is also expected that it will feature a new Apple A9 processor and M9 motion co-processor.
