"Hunter x Hunter" has been on hiatus since July 2016. However, the synopsis of the upcoming chapter 361 has been revealed. Meanwhile, fans debate whether manga series creator Yoshihiro Togashi will be releasing new chapters this year.

The latest release of "Hunter x Hunter" was in July last year with chapter 360, where the story has been brought over to the Dark Continent and began focusing on Kurapika. There is no launch date set for chapter 361, but a synopsis has already began circulating the web.

According to reports, chapter 361 of "Hunter x Hunter" will feature the story of a young boy known as Gon Freecss, who discovers that his dead father is actually alive and a world-renowned hunter. Gon Freecss will aspire to become like his father and will go on several adventures where he will face many supernatural entities.

There are speculations that "Hunter x Hunter" creator Yoshihiro Togashi has not been able to work on the succeeding chapters of the series because of his chronic back pain and has chosen to assign a new artist to continue his legacy, which is none other than his wife Naoko Takeuchi, who created "Pretty Solder Sailor Moon" and "Codename: Sailor V."

However, fans debate on Reddit whether Togashi has actually been working on "Hunter x Hunter" or has chosen to pass down his work.

Reddit user Rivoter says that since Togashi has not yet officially handed "Hunter x Hunter" to a new artist, he believes the series creator will return to work soon.

According to user Kuroitsuge, Togashi has already written 24 new chapters that will soon be launched. However, these claims have yet to be confirmed by Togashi himself or the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

Fans of the manga series remain hopeful that new chapters will be released this year.

"Hunter x Hunter" chapter 361 is anticipated to be released this year.
