"House of Cards" is returning with its fifth season on Netflix, and Frank (Kevin Spacey) and Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) might be likened to the Clintons.

Resuming with season 5 at the end of May, Spacey and Wright reprise their roles as the Underwoods in conquering the White House and all of America. The powerful couple has never played by the rules in acquiring their seats in Washington, and according to the season 5 synopsis, nothing has changed.

"Their thirst for power is unquenchable. Crafting fake narratives and throwing away longtime allies are all part of the game for the Underwoods," the listing reads on Netflix.

The show also recently launched a new trailer where Frank can be heard telling his wife how they will run the country. From his speech, it appears that the Underwoods have no good intentions for the citizens of the United States.

"The American people don't know what's best for them. I do. I know exactly what they need. They're like little children, Claire. We have to hold their sticky fingers and wipe their filthy mouth. Teach them right from wrong. Tell them what to think and how to feel and what to want," Frank says.

The trailer also reveals that Francis is planning to hold the White House until 2036, claiming an American nation to be united for the Underwoods.

Meawhile, it appears that some viewers have likened the Underwoods to the Clintons.

At a recent For Your Consideration (FYC) event, Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos admitted that many have seen similarities between Bill and Hillary Clinton with Frank and Claire Underwood.

However, Spacey shares they never intended to influence the show with "real world politics."

"We felt very strongly we did not want people to think that's what we were up to. ... We wanted to be an alternative universe. And it may be a universe that some people prefer," The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

"House of Cards" season 5 premieres on May 30 on Netflix.
