The villains of Gotham will unite to unleash their power on the city. Meanwhile, Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will continue to search for his father's killer in episode 17 of "Gotham" season 3.

In the next episode of "Gotham," titled "Heroes Rise: The Primal Riddle," the villains of Gotham will unite to gain power over the city. As seen from the episode 17 promo, Penguin (Robin Taylor) announces, "Tomorrow is going to be a busy day."

Penguin will be joined by Poison Ivy (Maggie Geha), Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow), and Firefly (Camila Perez) in taking over the city. The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) has his own plans in terms of terrorizing the city, and his plan involves getting the attention of the Court of Owls.

Meanwhile, Gordon will continue to search for the person responsible for his father's death. According to the synopsis of episode 17, Gordon's investigations about his father's murder will lead him back to the Court of Owls.

Could it be that the Court of Owls is responsible for him losing his father?

According to Den of Geek, it is interesting to note that based on the "Gotham" series, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Gordon both lost their fathers almost at the same age because of an underground conspiracy. With that said, the murder of Gordon's father could also connect to the killing of Bruce's dad.

However,  Gordon will soon figure out what the Court of Owls plan for Gotham, and he will search for the shadowy organization's secret weapon hidden within the city. However, the Court might learn of Gordon's investigations and it is possible that they eliminate him before he makes a move on them.

Aside from Mr. Freeze and Firefly, there are two more characters making a comeback in "Gotham" season 3. ComicBook reports episode 18 photos revealing the return of Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) and Hugo Strange (B.D. Wong).

"Gotham" season 3 airs every Monday night at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
