GoPro is shooting for an October 2016 launch for the GoPro Hero 5, though early reports indicate that the company was hoping to launch it sooner.

The high-action camera creator told Tech News Today that the launch date of the fifth generation of the Hero camera was pushed back due to some upgrades that the makers are trying to squeeze into the Hero 5. The company says that the additional tweaks are proven to make the device stand out and to provide better design and functionality to i.

The GoPro Hero 5 has also been said to be launching with an 8k video resolution recording ability at full HD, which is at least double the currently highest resolution of 4k that the Hero 4 Black is able to record. As promising as that sounds, some analysts are not too confident about the high resolution as it may have a negative effect to noise management and battery life.

The Hero 5 is also expected to have a higher frames per second shooting ability, with the new setting being able to shoot up to 60 frames per second. That is also twice the currently highest setting of 30 frames per second.

Crossmap also shares a recent rumour currently going around that the company is planning to make the GoPro Hero 5 small enough to attach to the Karma Drone, a flying unmanned remote control device by the company. Rumours also imply that the Hero 5 will be bundled together with the drone as they are launched together.

Once launched, the newest generation action camera will sell for a price of no lower than $550. However, the company has not given out any official news as of yet so users might want to take details with a grain of salt.

The GoPro Hero 4 was launched over a year ago and high-speed video shooting junkies are now excited for what could be the next action camera by GoPro.
