GoPro Hero 5 to be bundled with Karma?

GoPro announced the upcoming Karma drone at CES 2016, which has triggered rumours that the GoPro Hero 5 will be bundled with the device.

According to Crossmap, GoPro is designing the Hero 5 to fit into the Karma, a flying camera-equipped drone that will have a provision for the GoPro Hero 5 to be mounted on. The company set out to build its own drones after plans of partnering with DaiJang Innovation didn't go as expected.

Tech News Today previously said that GoPro intends to add some features and additional tweaks to GoPro Hero 5.

The GoPro Hero 5 is rumoured to sport a provision to shoot Ultra HD 8K-video format, which is twice the resolution ability of the GoPro Hero 4 Black. The mountable camera is also said to be able to shoot 60 frames per second, which is also twice the capacity of the Hero 4, which shoots in 30 frames per second.

The camera's battery pack is also expected to have improvements as a reported 2800mAh battery capacity will power the device, allowing continuous video recording for two hours. GoPro is also said to be planning to make smaller cameras, reaching a size which will almost be a half smaller than the existing models.

If the camera is indeed to me made smaller, it would only make sense to think that one of the reasons for doing so would be to install it to the Karma drone, further establishing the rumor that the two devices will be bundled with each other.

Also persisting is the rumor that GoPro intends to make the Hero 5 water proof, allowing for the camera to be brought down up to 100 feet under water. If this is true, then there will be no use for the water proofing peripherals being sold separately for the Hero cameras in the future.

The fifth generation camera's rumored price runs between $450 and $550, making it a big investment if the price range remains the same or even goes up.
