God wants to be with us more than we want to be with Him

There's a big lie that the enemy is spreading around the world, and you should know about it: He wants you to think that no matter how much you want God, He can't draw close because of your sin.

That would be true if Jesus didn't take to the cross your unrighteousness. But the fact is that He did and because of that we can draw near to God anytime.

Every believer desires to draw near to God. In God's presence there is so much promise—there is rest, blessing, peace, joy and everlasting freedom.

But sometimes some Christians feel like they don't have the knowledge, ability or right to enter God's presence. To many it can be because they feel that they aren't holy enough. To others it could be because they don't know the steps to enter into God's presence without fail. And then there are some who feel that because of who they are, God will never want them to come into His presence again.

However, Hebrews 4:14 and 16 tell us, "Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession... Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

Jesus makes it possible to draw near to God with absolute confidence and right.

Not only are we able to draw near to God, but we can be assured by this—that God definitely wants us to draw near to Him because He wants to be with you more than you want to be with Him.

You might be thinking that that's not true because we're sinful and God cannot co-exist with sin. That's actually true.

But we also know that God was the One who made a way for us to be set free from our sin so that we could be in His presence.

When Jesus gave up His life for us, the veil of the inner courts in the Temple of Jerusalem was torn in half. It wasn't man who tore that veil up; it wasn't the Romans; and it wasn't the Hebrew priests. It was God who tore that veil. God wants to be with us so much that He made a way for us to approach Him.

Psalm 18:16 (NIV) says this: "He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters."

So many people think that our faith is about us climbing up to meet God when it's really about Jesus climbing down to earth to be with us.

So the next time you think that God doesn't want you with Him, remember that it was Jesus who made a way for you to approach Him, not the other way around. God wants to be with you more than you want to be with Him. That should give you the confidence to approach His throne of grace with confidence.
