The director of "Deadpool" was set to handle the upcoming sequel but has exited production recently because of creative differences. Meanwhile, several actresses have been tested for the role of Domino.
"Deadpool" director Tim Miller has exited the production of "Deadpool 2" due to several creative differences with main actor and producer Ryan Reynolds, Deadline reports. There were no contracts into the production of "Deadpool 2," which held no obligation for Miller to continue working on the script and the film in time for a 2018 release.
Given that Reynolds is the face of the "Deadpool" franchise and also a producer, it seemed that he had more weight than Miller during production.
No hard feelings were garnered between the two, and Miller has simply moved on from one Fox project to another. He is expected to work on "Influx," a trilogy film based on the same name novel by Daniel Suarez with Mark Bomback as the scriptwriter. Miller originally planned to start filming in March 2017, but because of his exit, the "Deadpool 2" team will push back productions to search for a new director and settle turnovers.
Meanwhile, casting for new characters appearing in "Deadpool 2" has begun and six actresses have been tapped to test for Domino. Domino is similar to Deadpoo since she is also a mercenary-turned-mutant.
She has the ability to create good luck by initiating random telekinetic acts that alter probabilities to her favor. Domino is said to be a frenemy to Deadpool and has a close relations with Cable, another mutant set to appear in "Deadpool 2."
The actresses who tested for Domino are Lizzy Caplan (Now You See Me 2), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Final Destination 3), Sienna Miller (American Sniper), Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond), Stephanie Sigman (Spectre), and Sylvia Hoeks (Overspel). There has been no confirmation as to which of the actresses is the leading choice for Domino.
"Deadpool 2" is expected to premiere in 2018.
