Are Jill and Jessa Duggar planning their pregnancies at the same time to boost the ratings of their TLC show "Jill & Jessa: Counting On" to prevent its cancellation?

The two Duggar daughters talked about their upcoming pregnancies in the season finale of their show on May 3, which featured their family reunion in Central America.

As the episode was winding down, the two sisters teased that the next time they get pregnant they plan to be pregnancy buddies, which sparks the rumours, which went viral, that they are planning their pregnancies to keep TLC and the public interested in their show to save it.

"Which of the two of you will have your second child first?" a producer asked, Hollywood Gossip cited.

"It's hard to say," Jessa said.

"I think we will probably be pregnant at the same time, but to say who will be first, well Israel is older... so we will see," Jill answered.

"I'm not pregnant yet, that's the question everyone keeps asking me. Not yet," Jill continued. "I feel like we will have another child. I just don't know how. It will probably be a naturalised citizen of the family."

"Jill & Jessa: Counting On" was up for cancellation before they even finished the first season, Hollywood Gossip reports.

Hence, the Duggar sisters' "coy comments" about their dual pregnancy seem "calculating," according to Raw Story.

Hollywood Gossip believes that the pregnancies plotline is a determined effort to keep the show on the air. However, TLC still hasn't announced a new season for the show.

The Duggar family had been beset with advertising problems after Josh Duggar's paedophilia and sex addiction scandals marred the family's reality show "19 Kids and Counting," forcing TLC to pull the plug.

After his stint in a rehab facility, Josh Duggar has come out to help promote his sisters' new show, "Jill & Jessa: Counting On."
