5 books that can grow our understanding of God's grace

The grace of God can be a broad and sometimes even hard to comprehend topic just because there is no understanding the full measure and essence of the grace God gives us through Jesus Christ. And although it can be a challenge grasping grace all at once, there are great books that can be a good start for many.

Here are five Christian books that can help you grow in your understanding of God's grace.

1. "The Grace of God" by Andy Stanley

In "The Grace of God," Stanley shows that his knowledge goes way beyond just the practical leadership principles he normally writes and speaks about, to good and sound theological concepts on topics such as grace, obedience and God's unconditional and timeless love.

2. "Grace for Godly Living: Allowing God's Grace to Produce a Godly Life" by Paul Chappell 

With the rise of licentiousness and what Chappell calls "have-it-your-way" Christian living, we need books like this to give a balanced view of God's grace. Chappell teaches in his book that grace is not just the power to erase our sins, but also the power to help us live lives that will please God.

3. "The Grace Awakening: Believing in Grace is One Thing. Living it is Another." by Charles R. Swindoll

Just as dangerous as the sin of licentiousness is the sin of legalism - believing that we are saved by good works and nice images. "The Grace Awakening" is a good balanced book on the grace of God that teaches us how to live free from the need to perform, and live in the freedom and joy that God means for your to dwell in and be motivated by that.

4. "All Of Grace" by Charles Spurgeon

Another wonderful exhortation from the prince of preachers, Charles H. Spurgeon gives us all a three-hundred and sixty degree view of the grace of God for all it's worth. In just twenty concise chapters, Spurgeon shows us how much we can abound in God's grace as the force and power that drive our lives.

5. "Why Grace Changes Everything" by Chuck Smith

In a signature down-to-earth style, Chuck Smith gives us a glimpse of the unmerited favour of God and the power it has to sanctify and transform us into the people that God wants us to be. Not only is it easy to read, but Smith also gives us great ways that we can apply the grace of God into our everyday living.
