"13 Reasons Why" continues with season 2 featuring the stories of the people involved in Hannah's (Katherine Langford) suicide after the tapes came out. Meanwhile, Hannah will be returning in season 2.

The return of "13 Reasons Why" for a second season will come next year on Netflix, featuring the stories of the people Hannah talked about in her types.

According to executive producer Brian Yorkey, viewers of the show might believe that Hannah's story has ended. However, he emphasizes each tape taps onto another person with a story of their own.

"We really have characters who, after 13 episodes, are just beginning the process of recovery and the process of coming to terms with what part they might've played in Hannah's death and how Hannah's death will change their lives going forward," Yorkey explains in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Yorkey adds that "13 Reasons Why" is about calling attention to how boys are raised into men and how they treat women in their culture, and what precautions can be taken to avoid unfortunate circumstances.

"I realized we were just beginning the process of seeing these boys and girls grow up into men and women. It was something that we didn't get to watch with Hannah and I would really love to watch it with these other characters I've come to love," says Yorkey.

Meanwhile, the showrunner confirms that Hannah will be returning in season 2.

Yorkey explains that Hannah will be returning through the trials. Her past will be reflected upon by the show in uncovering more secrets in trying to find who is responsible for Hannah's death.

Fans of the show can expect that Selena Gomez, an executive producer of "13 Reasons Why," will not be appearing in season 2.

The actress-singer shares in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that although she sees herself in the character of Hannah, she chose not to take part in the film because of the book's "cult following."

"13 Reasons Why" season 2 is slated to premiere in 2018 on Netflix.
