Two powerful world leaders will play a dangerous game of one-upmanship in the upcoming episode of the CBS series "Madam Secretary."

In "The Greater Good," TV Guide reports that U.S. President Dalton (Keith Carradine) will go head-to-head with Russian Premier Maria Ostrov (Angela Gots) in what is supposed to be a peace talk designed to quell the escalating tension between the two countries. In the past episode, the United States displayed a show of supremacy by cutting down the power supply of Moscow. This was in retaliation for what they believed was a Russian attack against the Air Force One.

Intelligence pointed to Ostrov's country as the mastermind behind the attack on the president's plane. Elizabeth's (Téa Leoni) team identified where the suspected culprit was hiding, but when he was found, he was already dead. He was poisoned with polonium, a signature toxin used by the Russians to kill. With evidences piling up against Russia, the United States was preparing to take the battle to the United Nations, but Henry (Tim Daly) stopped Elizabeth from going public with the accusation. His trusted source claimed that Russia was not behind the attack.

It turned out that he was right, as the trail now led to President Bozek (Lev Gorn) of Ukraine. He, apparently, wanted the support of the United States to stop Russia from invading Ukraine. To do that, he had to pit the two powerful countries against each other. Dalton was furious, but the pact between United States and Ukraine has already been announced. Renouncing meant bloodshed, as Russia would waste no time bombing Ukraine. The United States was trapped and had no option but to keep the truth from being discovered.

In the next episode, Dalton and Elizabeth will go to Switzerland to meet with Ostrov. The POTUS will reportedly attempt to force the Russian to bend on his will by using a "reputation-ruining secret." Dalton wants Ostrov to acquiesce to the peace talks and stop the brewing war between the two countries. Will Ostrov fold? The female leader is also a tough contender and viewers can expect she will not cower easily. More than likely, she will take Dalton's threat as a declaration of an all-out battle. Is there no way left to prevent war from happening?

"Madam Secretary" season 2 episode 10 will air on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
