The mysteries that lurk in the shadows of Gravity Falls will all be revealed in the finale of "Gravity Falls" season 2. The final episode of the series is called "Weirdmageddon III" and it is the third and last part of the three-part finale special of the Disney Channel animated series.

In the previous episode of the series, Mabel and Dipper managed to escape the prison bubble the former was in and quickly rushed to Gravity Falls only to find it abandoned. They headed to Mystery Shack to find everyone including Stan and even other creatures cooped up in the place.

Not much is known about what will happen in the "Gravity Falls" season 2 finale, although it is sure to answer Xyler and Craz's almost existential question in the last part of the previous installment. Do they really exist?

The final episode of the series will be a one-hour special, which should be ample time to tie all loose ends and for fans to savor the show, which they felt was cut a bit too short by running for just two fleeting seasons.

But as it turns out, the animated mystery-adventure comedy was designed to run for only two seasons. This is what the show's creator Alex Hirsch revealed in a Tumblr post, where he clarified that the show wasn't cancelled but it's just "being finished."

Hirsch revealed that this is what he has planned for "Gravity Falls" all along, describing the show as "a finite series about one epic summer - a series with a beginning, middle, and end."

"There are so many shows that go on endlessly until they lose their original spark, or mysteries that are cancelled before they ever get a chance to payoff," Hirsch went on to write.

"But I wanted Gravity Falls to have a mystery that had a real answer, an adventure that had a real climax, and an ending that had a real conclusion for the characters I care so much about," he continued.

Hirsch, however, hinted that with the nature of how the "Gravity Falls" season 2 finale was made, there may be a time that fans will see the Pines family once more. The series finale airs sometime next year.
